Factors in choosing the right homecare company

1) Consider the types of assistance you or your family member may require.  Evalute your current needs carefully.  Do not hesitate to talk to your physician and other health care workers who have been involved in your care and ask what they recommend.

3) Is the agency certified or licensed by the state?

2) Does the homecare company hire employees or contractors?
Looking for the right home care company can be complicated.  We've created a set of questions that can help make deciding much easier.  Since this is an important decision, you may want to ask the following questions to many homecare agencies before you make the choice.
4) How long has the agency been in business and does the agency carry liability insurance?  Inquire if the agency's caregivers are bonded and whether a criminal background check is conducted on each employee.

5) What specific training is required for the agency's employees?

6) Price.  Look for affordability and quality of care.  Request a brochure or detailed explanation of eligibility requirements.  In addition ask for published information outlining all the fees and costs associated with the services.  Costs will vary depending on the types of services required.  Any legitimate agency should be willing to make this information readily available.
7) Consider the kinds of references the agency can provide.  Ask for names of several former clients, as well as doctors and other health care professionals who have firsthand knowledge about the agency and the quality of the services it provides.
To name just a few of our services we offer: Caring Companionship, Meal planning and preparation, Incidental transportation, Running errands, Light housekeeping, Medication reminders, Assistance with bathing and grooming, Information and referral services

This question is important because it directly affects the quality of service you will receive.  We've found that most agencies hire independent contractors because it is less expensive since they will not have to shoulder payroll taxes such as social security, unemployment, and Medicare.  The problem with doing this is that although they very well may be qualified to do the job, the level of care will not always be there.  At HFG, our caregivers are our own employees whom we have trained, have experience and are part of our own family, so we know exactly who we are placing with your loved ones.  That cannot be said about most other agencies.
Home for good Senior Care (HFG) is licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Home For Good Senior Care has been in business for the past 5 years.  Our staff has experience working with the elderly for more than we can count.  All of our caregivers are licensed bonded and insured and criminal background checks are conducted on all of our employees.
Since we are licensed by IDPH, our minimum requirements are to undergo training in body mechanics, infection control, abuse and neglect, and management strategies in home care.  We also provide additional training in dealing with patients with alzheimers, dementia, nutritional support, managing medications, illness & disease and other topics.
Call us at 773/572-4875 and request this information.  We can also provide you with a free in home assessment.
